Where the Iron Indian Riders Association started from
The Iron Indian Riders Association grew out of the frustration of a single Gilroy Indian owner. This first year Gilroy Indian owner was trying to find answers to some problems his bike had and he did this on the website and forum run by the Gilroy Indian Motorcycle Factory.
This person, THE Founding Father of the "Iron Indians," is Tony "White Feather" Johnson from Florida.
Tony was one of the first persons (if not the first person) banned from the Indian factory forum (in 2000) for simply trying to find answers to problems he was having with his 1999 Chief. He would post about problems he was having and the posts would be edited or removed from the site. Tony complained about it enough times that the company decided to ban him from using their forum.
At this point he struck out on his own and created the cybocorp forum for Indian motorcycle owners. This happened some time early in 2001.
Very quickly he decided that the name cybocorp did not fit the purpose of the forum and website so he asked the users to help come up with a new name. Several names were put up by the users for a vote and the name "Iron Indians" offered by forum member Dennis Murphy was the one chosen for the forum. In July of 2001 the “Iron Indians” were born.
In July of 2001 the "Iron Indians" were born.
Soon after Tony started his website, and even prior to selecting the name "Iron Indians," there was talk of starting a new riders group for the members of the "White Feather" forum - a riders group separate from the factory and factory riders group.
In May of 2002 the Indian factory riders group sponsored a ride at Myrtle Beach Bike Week. The Iron Indian forum pulled more riders to the Indian sponsored event than the factory riders group. At this event several users of White Feather's Iron Indian forum decided it was time to start an Iron Indian riders group as an alternative to the factory group.
The 2002 Myrtle Beach Bike Week became the catalyst for members of the Iron Indians forum to organize a new riders group, the Iron Indian Riders Association. Iron Indian forum members present at Bike Week 2002, Dennis "Iron Indian" Murphy, Bill "Joker" Trinemeyer and Richard "Rock" Hartley started to put the wheels in motion for this new riders group.
They contacted Alec "Mohawk" Carlson , David "Fireman Dave" Johnson, Tony Johnson, and John "Chief2inSeattle" Rudolph to be the seven founding members of the new "Iron Indian Riders Association."

And that became the group that made up the founding Tribal Council of the Iron Indian Riders Association on July 4, 2002:
Alec Carlson. Texas
Richard Hartley, Georgia
David W. Johnson, Texas
Tony Johnson, Florida
Dennis Murphy, Massachusetts
John Rudolph, Washington
Bill Trinemeyer, Florida
A special thanks goes out to Tony "White Feather" Johnson.
Without him this association would have never come about.
